If you don't like something, change it.
If you can't change it, change your attitude.
Maya Angelou

The way our minds play such a big role in our lives can be truly fascinating. The mind is one of the most powerful tools in our possession. With it, we are able to create and destroy entire worlds, make crucial decisions, hurt and make people happy, even prevent catastrophes and rule lives - others' as well as, first of all, our own. All sometimes quite literally. One of the most important abilities of our minds, however, is perception.

Everybody's thinking is different if only because everybody's view of life is unique by itself. Often things that matter to you, have no importance for others. Or, for instance, what for one can be beautiful would be ordinary in somebody else's eyes. Where you think you succeeded, others would probably still be convinced they are only beginning. There are over 7 billion people on the planet, which equals to as much outlooks on pretty much everything that happens around.

The quality of your life strongly depends on the way you think, and view the world. You can (moreover, are doing regularly without even realising) programme your mind to attract certain things into your life, and when you firmly believe nothing good will happen, nothing good will indeed happen to you.

The main problem with your current thinking (if you are unhappy with the way things are), is probably your inability to believe and accept that you are worthy of good things. When something unpleasant happens or is going to happen, you must be thinking "Ah, I've expected this. Good things never happen to me, anyway." And actually, if you are more or less happy with how the things currently are in your life, you should still mind the way you are thinking.

It's not just about staying positive. It's about drawing good things into your life with the power of your mind. Thoughts tend to materialise, and I am far from being the first to state it. When you think good things, you feel good, you have more energy, strength, wish and willpower to do something wonderful in your life. Just because you don't see the immediate outcome, doesn't mean your life hasn't started improving already.

Destructive thinking isn't always negative things on your mind, but also all the things that don't add anything positive to your personality. You need to acknowledge that harmful thoughts poison every aspect of your life, from career to your personal relations. Once you have recognised the issue, force yourself to stop doing this to yourself.

It can be difficult to focus on the good things when everything around seems to be going wrong. Especially if you are blaming yourself for all the bad things. But have you thought about this? Why do you never take responsibility for all the good things happening in your life? Well, you should.

If you think life is wonderful, the grass is green and the sun is shining, you will eventually notice that life is actually wonderful. If you consistently think that life is sh*t, you will at some point realise that bad things are happening in your life all the time, because it's what you are focused on. One has only to dare change their thoughts, and life will start giving amazing things to you.

Leading yourself to the wonderful things you deserve is easier than you think. Believe in yourself and your ability to change the quality of your life. Magic might not happen, but improvements will necessarily start occurring. Even if everything is really rough in your life, finding something positive to focus on instead can sometimes be relieving. Eventually, step by step, the world will look more colourful.

Who knows what you most need better than you, yourself? Start talking to yourself, listen to your desires. Become your own best friend.

Every morning, take some time to appreciate the very fact you are alive and healthy. Learn to find beauty and wonder in the little things, surround yourself with positive vibes.

For example, when I feel tired, and everything seems to be going wrong, I like to indulge myself in the little things that make me happy. A "happy hour" alone with a book and a coffee in a nearby Starbucks or another episode of a favourite TV series and a cup of green tea with chocolate are my most loved ways of reloading my batteries.

Take on the same habit of pampering yourself and, trust me, everything will all of a sudden start looking bearable.

Implementing the new way of thinking isn't simple. To make it work you will need patience and lots of determination. You will have to find out what exactly works for you, and only you, obtain confidence and convince yourself you are worthy of all the good things that are about to start happening for you.

Every once in a while, you might be rolling back into your former destructive thinking pattern, but it is in your power to recognise those moments, train your thinking and replace the bad with the good.

Do you think your current thinking pattern somehow affects the quality of your life? Have you tried working on changing the way you think? Do you have any thoughts or experience to share?
